Certified Organic Ingredients

Organic is a term regulated by the US Department of Agriculture to ensure consumers that the food products and cosmetics they purchase are produced and processed under exact regulations of national organic standards. Organic foods are those produced using organic farming methods. Organic agriculture is an ecological production management system that promotes and enhances biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use of off-farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain and enhance ecological harmony. Therefore, our organic ingredients are produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations. Our ingredients do not involve the use of modern synthetic inputs such as synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers. In the long run, organic farming techniques provide a safer, more sustainable environment for everyone and have as a result more nutritious and higher quality food. In order for cosmetics to be certified under the USDA Organic seal, these products must comply with all food standards and the USDA Organic seal assures consumers of the quality and integrity of organic products. These products must contain at least 95–99% organic ingredients (by weight). The remaining ingredients are not available organically but have been approved by the NOP. We must point out, the standard is different outside of the US, and will vary by country or region. A new standard for organic personal care is now being regulated by the NSF, and this standard is more consistent with personal care products and not just food products. We manufacture Certified Organic products under two standards: USDA NOP and NSF ANSI 305.
